Hi friends! My name is Kelly Mae and I am an accidental farmer.
Let me tell you more about my story. I have always been an animal lover, raised by an animal lover, and I am passing it on to my own 3 kids. I became a vegetarian over 2 decades ago at the age of 14 because I just couldn't stand the idea of eating animals. That is a choice that feels right for me, but it isn't my mission to convert people to vegetarianism. My mission is to empower you to grow your own food!
I never intended on raising farm animals or harvesting my own food. But life has a way of changing your direction. In early 2020, we moved to our property here in Flagstaff. My partner got busy building a chicken coop (he had always wanted one) and soon found four chickens that I agreed to "help" with. Fast forward just a few days and I was in love with the chickens. Also, not my intention. What can I say? I had no idea how charming the little raptors could be. We developed a pretty decent egg laying group for our homestead and it was much easier than I thought it would be! Now we have added goats into the mix and we are working on plans for a greenhouse!
If you are interested in learning about raising backyard chickens and goats, growing your own food, and using herbs to live a more natural lifestyle, let's talk! I am glad you are here!
